Policy regarding new ForHot consortium members

The ForHot consortium has an open policy for accepting new participants. Requests should be addressed to the coordinator of ForHot. * May 28, 2012. Marja Maljanen from Univ. of Eastern Finland came and spent a week measuring CH4 and N2O fluxes at both the ForHot study sites.

* May 24, 2012. Håkan Wallander, Magnus Ellström, Firoz Shah and Stephanie Reischke came from the Microbial Ecology group at Lund University, Sweden, and spent some days taking samples for DNA analysis of soil bacteria and fungi, as well as installing mesh-bags with C4-plant material for isotopic study to estimate ectomycorrhizal production in the soil. They came through the FSC-Sink Nordic Network.

* May 16, 2012. ForHot got a infrastructure funding from Icel. Res. Council today. This will enable us to start more measurements at both sites.

* May 10, 2012. James T. Weedon from VU Univ. Amsterdam is now working at the ForHot sites. He got funding from ESF for staying with us for two weeks. He is taking soil samples from both study sites to study the community composition of soil microbes, using pyrosequencing techniques.
